first that we have heard of the projected

aerodrome at Ha Tsuen.

There can be no doubt that this

attempt on the part of the Air Ministry to

establish a right to be provided with any

lands they want free of charge will have to be

resisted. I think, however, that the first

thing to be done is to defeat the attempt which

is being made to make payment of the Air

Ministry share of the cost of the Kai Tak

extension conditional upon a settlement of the

general question of transfer; and perhaps the

whole matter would be brought to a speedier

conclusion if the Air Ministry were given to

understand that the Secretary of State would

not propose to consider the general question

until suitable arrangements have been made

for this payment.

Perhaps the best course would be to write fully to the Treasury, sending
